Nominations now open!

A feature of the NZAS Retirement Fund is your ability to have a say in how it is managed.

This is possible because, under the terms of the Trust Deed, the Fund is managed by a trustee company, with an eight-person board of trustee directors. Four are chosen by you (the members), and four are appointed by the company.

At least one of the four company-appointed trustee directors must be a licensed independent trustee. This is to ensure that there is one trustee director who is independent from the Fund’s sponsors and who brings specific governance skills relating to financial services.

The Company has appointed two independent trustee directors, Bruce Kerr and Tim McGuinness. Bruce Kerr has been appointed as the Fund’s licensed independent trustee director, and Tim McGuinness acts as the trustee board chair.

The four member-elected Trustee Directors are chosen via an election held every three years, and the term of office of the four current member-elected directors is scheduled to cease on 31 October 2022.

Nominations are now being sought for four member-elected directors to hold office for a term of three years from 1 November 2022.

How to nominate

The nomination form and information on the role of a Trustee Director were sent to all members by post on Friday 15 July. Candidates must be nominated by a current member of the Fund, with that nomination seconded by one other Fund member.

To nominate a candidate, you must complete the posted nomination form and either scan and email, or send by post. All nominations must reach the Returning Officer before 5pm on Friday 5 August 2022.
