Switching your investment fund

The Fund offers four investment options (Cash, Conservative, Balanced, and Growth) for you to choose from. While you can switch between investment options at any time, it is important to understand the implications the switch may have, and the process involved.

Investment option switch requests are effective from the 1st of the following month. For example, if you submitted a switch on 5 February, the switch will only be effective from 1 March.
You can request a switch either online at www.nzasretirementfund.com (please allow two working days before the month-end) or by completing and returning form NZAS14C 5 working days before the month-end.

Below are some frequently asked questions about investment option switches:

What is an ‘investment switch’?

The Fund offers you four investment funds – Cash, Conservative, Balanced and Growth (more information about each investment fund is available in the Product Disclosure Statement). You have the flexibility to choose a single investment option or a combination of options.

Are there any switch fees?

No.

How many times can I switch?

While there is no limit on the number of switches you can make, retirement saving is a long-term undertaking and often it is best to stick to your savings strategy and not try to ‘time the market’ (making short-term decisions in response to changing market conditions).

Making an investment switch

Before making any changes to your investment strategy, you should speak with a financial adviser and read the Product Disclosure Statement (available from the Documents & forms section).
You can submit an investment switch request:

Investment switch process

After submitting an investment switch request you will receive a confirmation (receipt) that your request has been received.

You can do this online at any time. Investment switches are processed monthly, effective from the 1st of the following month.

Find out your what investment fund(s) you are currently in

You can find out online the investment fund(s) in which your account balances are currently invested (and, if you have chosen more than one investment fund, the percentage held in each) by logging in with your PIN at www.nzasretirementfund.com.

When viewing the percentage held in any investment fund, please note that the website can only display whole numbers. As a result, if your account is invested across multiple investment options, the pre-populated percentages may not total 100%.
